The duties of the Federal Trade Commission are to educate the public about Identity Theft. Copyright and CC fall into this category because they deal with people taking for others and then presenting it as their own.

Hey there! I’m back again with another school assignment! This time I am reporting on Copyright for music.

When you write music, you get Copyrights as soon as you finish the piece and you have the Copyrights up to 95 years, or 70 years after their death. Having Copyrights to music or lyrics mean that no one can reproduce, perform, or distribute your composition without your permission. In the US the current year for Public Domain is January 1, 2019. The difference between Public Domain and Proof of Public Domain is Public domain, anyone can use it without sighting where they got it or who made it. But, with Proof of Public Domain, you must site where you got the image, quote, or song.

To help you out, here is a list of rules about Copyrights for music and lyrics.

·         If a work is dated before 1922, it is Public Domain; otherwise, it is protected under Copyright laws.

·         You CANNOT reproduce the music or lyrics.

·         You CANNOT distribute the music lyrics for free, for no profit, or for profit.

·         You CANNOT perform the music or lyrics in public.

·         You CANNOT play a recording of the music or lyrics in public-even if you own the CD.

·         You CANNOT make a derivative work or arrangement for the public use in any form.

A famous case, where the Copyright law was not obeyed, was the case between Jonny Cash and Gordon Jenkins. The original song in question was recorded on a concept album called Seven Dreams, the song in question was part of the ‘Second Dream: The Conductor by Jenkins.  The lyrics in some parts were exactly the same, or they had a one or two word difference. After fifteen years, Jenkins decided to sue Cash for taking his song. They went to court, but it was settled out of court. Cash ended up having to pay around one-hundred thousand dollars.

A Podcast is a video or audio, on a spicific topic. They are released episodically, and downloaded to be veiwed or read.
Honestly, I do not know how Podcasts are used, and I do not know where I can locate one.

ID Theft

Hey there! I’m back again! This time I shall be talking about identity theft. We watched a move…and this is the follow up.

In the article the mistake she made, that lead to her identity being stolen were, that she purchased items with her debit card because, if someone steals your information, you may not be reimbursed for all the money you lost. ID theft is a common problem today because so much can and is purchased on the Internet. Also, people aren’t very careful with their information and what they do with it. They just throw it away, and not shred papers with account numbers and personal information.

To steel someone’s identity, all someone has to get is to get their credit card information, your driver’s license, or most importantly your Social Security number. To keep all this information safe, I would suggest that you shred financial and other important documents, keep your SS card safely locked up. Also, don’t leave personal things laying about anywhere. Keep them with you!

To me, it’s the person who left their information out. I mean, the person stealing the information has no morals, but the other person needs to be responsible. It’s their life and their numbers. They should be taking better care of that information.

Solar Energy

An emerging technology that will be common soon is solar energy. Solar energy is when special panels catch the sun’s rays and turns it into energy. Though, they are hardly used because they are too expensive. There are many companies working on bringing the cost down so anyone can buy them, and cut back on their energy bills. Not only would it cut down on cost of bills, it helps the environment too. It is one of the best choices for energy because it is clean and efficient. It doesn’t create harmful pollutants or harm the surrounding habitat. It also gives off a steady supply of energy as long as there is light in the sky.

Jean Hoerni

Jean Hoerni was born on September 26,1924. He was a famous inventor in Siwitzerland. He was known as the piorneer of his time fo his invention of the planar process.  It is what now know as the micro chip. The planar manufacturing process is used to build the transitor and connect transitors together. It is the primary process that we use to build integrated circuits. It is a of growing an oxide layer on a silicon substrate. To create this layer you must complete a series of etching and diffusion steps is then used to produce the transistor.
His invention still is used today. His invention has helped make computers smaller, with more data space on a single chip. We have shrunken computers the size of a room down to the size we see today, and in the future smaller because of his process. With out his invention, most of us would never use a computer, because of inaccessibility.

QR Codes

Once again, I am here talking about QR codes! YAY!

No, my phone isn’t able to read it, but I think my iPod can.

Personally,  I think that the QR codes are going to become more popular. They are easy to scan and only scanners can read it, and almost impossible to copy.  They would work for education because its interactive learning and most kids learn better that way. It forces kids to participate and read what the object is as they are looking at it. They could also be used at movie theaters. You just scan your ticket right before you enter instead of tearing it. It would be quicker, and it would save paper and help the earth.

My QR Code

This right here, is my very own QR code. I made this for my Online A class. Some devices (such as an iPhone or iPod touch (with a  camera)) can read these. They are becomming more and more common. Places like airports are using these instead of boarding passes. Just one swipe and you can get on, rather than ripping down the dashed line of the pass.  Some schools have even been using these more to help kids learn a foigen language or the bones of a body. These QR codes are becomming the "next big thing" people are claiming.

So, I just made this picture. It represents my personality because (as mentioned before) I love to play music. It is the best thing in my life. This is what I do every time i can! The sixteenth and dotted eight note patteren is my favorite rythem to play. It is pink, because that is my favorite color.

   My name is Brittany! I  love to dance. I have been doing it for 11 years now! I study ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, fusion, Irish, and pointe. I also am an assistant ballet teacher at my dance studio. Sooo...it's pretty much is my whole life! I also am on the JV cheerleading team for my school! I also play five different instruments; I play clarinet, bass clarinet, contra bass clarinet, tenor saxaphone, and flute! I alos have two adorable pugs! The older one is brown and the new puppy is black! :) In my family I have only one litter brother.
   I have created this blog for my Online class at school. So some of the posts will be school related, but there also will be some personal posts like this one.
